Timeline of Activities and Changes in the Park

Friday 3 August 2007: Station square opens

Work on demolition of the turnstiles and footbridge at Crystal Palace Station is completed and access to this area was formally restored to coincide with the 2007 Norwich Union Athletics Grand Prix event. The work saw the levelling, landscaping and planting of five new oak trees and new seating.

18 October to 31 October 2007: Masterplan

The London Development Agency (LDA) held a two week exhibition from Wednesday 17 October to Wednesday 31 October prior to the submission of the masterplan application for the new vision for Crystal Palace Park.

Where: The exhibition took place in the Old Ticket Hall at Crystal Palace Train station.

1 November 2007: Masterplan planning application submitted to the London Borough of Bromley

The London Development Agency's outline planning application, Conservation Area Consent application and Listed Building Consent appplication were submitted to the London Borough of Bromley on 1 November 2007.

Easter 2008: Capel Manor College re-open Crystal Palace Park farm

London's leading animal husbandry and horticultural college will, subject to programming, re-open the farm to students and the public in Crystal Palace Park in January 2008 after being shut for many years.

Summer:
Monday to Friday, morning times are from 10.30am to 12pm and afternoons from 3pm to 4.30pm.

Saturday and Sunday, 12pm to 4pm. During the two week period over Christmas, the farm will not be open.

Winter:
Monday to Friday, afternoon times only, from 2.30pm to 4pm.

Spring 2008: Tram route decision by Transport for London

The preferred route of the Croydon Tram Link extension to Crystal Palace will be announced by TfL in Spring 2008.

December 2007 to June 2008: National Sports Centre (NSC) closes for refurbishment work

The refurbishment of the NSC heating and filtration system and renovation of the changing rooms started in November 2007 and will last for up to six months. The work will allow the swimming pool facilities to remain open until 2012 and beyond. It is anticpated the NSC will re-open in June 2008. Summer 2008: LDA masterplan planning application decision

It is anticipated that the London Borough of Bromley will make a decision on whether to grant LDA's masterplan planning application permission in Summer 2008.

March 2009: option of full ownership of the Park

LDA consider option to take over full ownership of Crystal Palace Park from London Borough of Bromley.

2009 onwards: implementation of the masterplan

The LDA will set about implementating the masterplan subject to planning permission being granted and funding being obtained.

Consultation activities with stakeholders will be ongoing as the masterplan considers the options for Park governance and management. It will also identify individual areas of the Park for revitalisation which will require more detailed planning applications over the next 15 to 20 years.

The LDA will also continue to encourage and support a greater diversity of events in the Park.
