The Masterplan Vision

Latz und Partner were chosen in the Summer 2006 from among twenty international landscape architect practices from Britain, Europe and America to lead on the regeneration of Crystal Palace Park.

Appointed

Latz und Partner are an award winning international landscape architectural practice. They were appointed by a panel, which included representatives from the London Development Agency, English Heritage, Bromley Council and community representatives from the Crystal Palace Park working group. They were the first choice of all ten panel members.

Latz und Partner lead the design of the Crystal Palace Park masterplan with the submission of a planning application to the London Borough of Bromley in the Autumn of 2007.

Founded

Founded in 1968 by Anneliese and Peter Latz, their son Tilman is now partner at the practice working with 14 other landscape architects at the offices in Kranzberg, Germany.

Latz has a reputation for producing designs that are tailor-made for each site. Their previous projects include the Duisburg North Landscape Park, the old and new harbour at Bremerhaven, Geboth in Germany, the Plateau de Kirchberg in Luxembourg, and the Shell Research Centre at Thornton, near Manchester.

Team leader

The team is led by Tilman Latz, with a dedicated London office to manage the Crystal Palace Park masterplanning process, under Tobi Kramer.  Tilman says:

"In my projects I am always interested in the "genius of the place" rather than in the genius of my office. Even motorways or industrial wastelands can be filled with a new spirit and can be made worth living by keeping visible the spirit of the existing site. Landscape and open space contain a wealth of information layers."
